Michigan’s commercial and tribal online gambling operators reported $337.6 million in gross receipts in August, down 2.5% from July, as online casino revenue held above $300 million while sports betting weakened. Internet gaming supplied $303 million of the total, while online sports betting accounted for $34.6 million, according to the Michigan Gaming Control Board.
On an adjusted-gross-receipts basis, the combined market generated $315 million. iGaming contributed $290.8 million, up 0.1% from July and 17.6% from a year earlier. Online sports betting AGR fell 21.4% month on month and 29.3% year on year to $24.2 million.
As we reported in August, Michigan’s combined online-gaming gross receipts reached $346.1 million in July, with iGaming also providing the bulk of revenue. In August, online betting handle fell 7% from July to $330.5 million.
The August casino figure extended iGaming’s run above $300 million to six consecutive months. Bonus.com, citing MGCB data, put gross online casino revenue at $303 million, up 15.1% from August 2025, although it said this was the market’s slowest year-on-year growth rate so far in 2026.
Michigan online casino revenue reached about $2.41 billion in the first eight months of the year, up 21.4% from the comparable period of 2025, according to Bonus.com. The state was roughly $424.5 million ahead of last year’s pace. FanDuel led the August market with $72.7 million in revenue, followed by BetMGM at $64.1 million and DraftKings at $44.3 million.
The MGCB said 15 commercial and tribal operators were authorised to provide iGaming and/or online sports betting as of August. All 15 offered iGaming, while 13 offered online sports betting. Operators submitted $62.8 million in taxes and payments to the state during the month; Detroit casinos paid nearly $13.9 million in online wagering taxes and municipal-services fees to the city, while tribal operators made $8.5 million in payments to governing bodies.
Separately, Detroit’s three commercial casinos reported $109.7 million in August aggregate revenue, with table games and slots producing $108.9 million, up 3% from a year earlier but down 2.5% from July; retail sports betting generated $863,913 in qualified adjusted gross receipts, down 30.4% year on year.
