Massachusetts sportsbooks reported $632,109,678 in wagers in May 2026, down 3.61% from the same month a year earlier. Gross gaming revenue fell 12.57% to $70,586,592 on a softer 11.17% hold, according to RG.

RG also reported that the state collected $14,091,494 in sports betting tax in May 2026.

Online betting accounted for 98.87% of all wagers in Massachusetts in May 2026, with retail sportsbooks taking just $7.1 million.

DraftKings settled $306.5 million in online wagers in May 2026, taking 49% of the state’s online handle. FanDuel settled $158.7 million for a 25.4% share, and together the two operators accounted for 74.4% of all online handle.

Fanatics settled $70.5 million in wagers for an 11.3% share. BetMGM took $46.5 million (7.4%), Caesars Sportsbook took $21.3 million (3.4%), theScore Bet took $17.5 million (2.8%), and Bally Bet took $4.1 million (0.6%).

InterGaming, citing Massachusetts Gaming Commission figures, reported sports betting revenue of $70.6m for May, down from $80.7m in May 2025.

Other outlets published slightly different May totals. Gaming Intelligence reported wagers of $625.0 million and gross win down 12% to $71.6 million, while ClosingLine reported handle of $630,448,655 (down 3.8%) and revenue of $72,126,498 (down 13%).

In Massachusetts Gaming Commission materials, the press release for May 2026 stated that approximately $70.59 million in taxable sports wagering revenue (TSWR) was generated across seven mobile/online licensees and three in-person licensees. The same release said category 1 sports wagering operators were taxed on 15% of TSWR, and category 3 operators were taxed on 20% of TWSR.

The commission’s release also listed EBH, MGM, and PPC as Category 1 Sports Wagering Operators, while Bally Bet, BetMGM, Caesars Sportsbook, DraftKings, Fanatics Betting & Gaming, FanDuel, and theScore Bet were listed as Category 3 Sports Wagering Operators. It further noted that if an operator’s adjusted gross sports wagering receipts for a month were negative, the Sports Wagering Law allowed the operator to carry over the negative amount in tax liability to subsequent months.

Since sports wagering began in person on January 31, 2023 and online on March 10, 2023, the press release said the Commonwealth had collected approximately $467.04 million in total taxes and assessments from licensed operators. The Massachusetts Gaming Commission revenue reports page indicated Sports Wagering Revenue Reports were updated on 6.22.2026.
