Day 2 of Event #83, the $1,500 Double Board Bomb Pot Pot-Limit Omaha tournament at the World Series of Poker, ended early after the field proved too large to reach the planned five-player finish. Nineteen players remained, with 13,414 already locked up apiece.

According to PokerNews, Day 1 drew 1,673 entries and the tournament was forced to stop after ten levels of play. The pace was fierce from the start of Day 2, with 227 players eliminated before the first break.

Paul Fehlig bagged 5,885,000 for the second day running and led the survivors. Julio Trimmer followed on 4,500,000, Daniel Walmsley had 3,455,000, Jesse Lonis 3,145,000 and Justin Fawcett 2,965,000.

The prize pool reached $2,220,907, easily topping last year’s maiden edition at $1,927,530. The eventual champion will collect $322,564 and a WSOP Gold Bracelet.

The early rush claimed a string of familiar names, including Christian Harder, Luis Velador, Alexander Rizvi, Robert Mizrachi, Brandon Shack-Harris, Ryan Hoenig and Michael Moncek before the first break.

By the time the final 19 were confirmed, Jay Harwood, Igor Zektser, Davidi Kitai and Brad Ruben had also failed to bag. Jesse Lonis described the event as “one of the funnest he’s ever played.”

The players were set to return at 1 p.m. local time at Horseshoe and Paris, Las Vegas.
