Arizona regulators allocated an event wagering operator license to Circa Sports Arizona LLC, the San Juan Southern Paiute Tribe’s designee, on July 27. The Arizona Department of Gaming said it would work with Circa on the remaining steps before the sportsbook can go live, but no official launch date was announced.
Arizona law allows up to 20 event wagering operator licenses, split evenly between tribal entities and professional sports franchises. Circa entered through the tribal side of that structure after a licensing window that opened in late June and closed on July 10.
Jeffrey Benson, Circa’s director of operations, said the company was “thrilled” and is targeting a go-live in early 2027. Circa’s online sportsbook is already active in Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Missouri and Nevada, which would make Arizona its seventh U.S. state.
Reporting differed on Circa’s place in Arizona’s market. Covers said the approval made Circa the state’s 13th licensed online sportsbook. Casino.org said Arizona Department of Gaming records list 14 regulated sportsbook operators, which would make Circa the 15th.
Arizona’s sports betting market has grown since legalization in 2021. According to figures cited by World Casino Directory, bettors in the state have placed about $35.3 billion in wagers and the activity has generated roughly $190.6 million in event wagering privilege fees.
