West Virginians gained access to a tenth online casino this week after Delaware North launched a new app for its Betly brand on Tuesday that includes online casino gaming and sports betting.
Betly Sportsbook was previously available in the Mountain State through two custom skins made for its land-based casino partners — Mardi Gras and Wheeling Island — but the apps stopped accepting wagers on June 18. The new igaming app released Tuesday replaces the previous version.
Delaware North, a hospitality company based in Buffalo, owns and operates both casinos. It briefly offered mobile sports betting in West Virginia in 2019 under the brand BetLucky, but came out with its Betly branded sportsbook in September 2020.

In July 2021, Delaware North formed a joint venture (JV) called Gamewise with GAMING1, an online casino and sports betting operator based in Belgium. The Betly platform is powered by Gamewise.
West Virginia has seen its igaming market on the rise. Revenue totaled $11.9 million in June, up 2.7% from the previous month ($11.6 million) and up 57% year-over-year ($7.6 million).
Online poker in West Virginia is legal, but it has yet to attract any operators.
Betly’s participation in the online casino vertical, coupled with last month’s launch of WynnBET, is likely to push West Virginia’s igaming market even higher. The market peaked at $14.3 million in March and has been above the $10 million mark for revenue for ten consecutive months — it’s also been above $9 million for the past 11 consecutive months.
Deadline Set to Withdraw Old Funds
Shortly after launching the new app, both Mardi Gras and Wheeling Island posted messages on their websites announcing the new features. They were also busy signing up players.
The casinos said West Virginia online casino players now had access to “a huge variety of fan-favorite slot games like Cash Eruption, Cleopatra Gold, Fortune Coin, [and] Elephant King.”
They added that the new Betly app would also feature “simulated table games including blackjack, roulette and Three Card Stud” as well as “loads of sports betting possibilities on football, basketball, baseball, hockey, soccer, [and] tennis.”
New players were eligible for a promotion where they could claim a 200% deposit match for up to $200 in bonus play. “Betly offers the highest percentage bonus match of any online gaming option in West Virginia,” the casino said.
Players who used the two previous apps — Betly Mardi Gras Sportsbook and Betly Wheeling Island Sportsbook — were advised to withdraw any remaining funds from their accounts by July 31. Players with any funds remaining in accounts past that date will receive a check in the mail sent to their address on file.

WynnBET Just Launched Last Month
The launch of Betly as an online casino brand comes less than a month after WynnBET announced that it had launched in West Virginia.
WynnBET launched online casino gaming and sports betting in WV on June 22 through a separate partnership with Delaware North.
Under West Virginia’s gaming laws, each of the state’s five land-based casinos and horse racetracks can have three skins for online casino gaming and sports betting. Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races, Mountaineer Casino, and the private Greenbrier Resort are the three main gambling properties in the state.
Hollywood and Greenbrier each have three partner operators. Hollywood is partnered with Barstool Casino WV, DraftKings Casino WV, and PointsBet Casino WV, which is poised to be replaced by BetFanatics. Meanwhile, Greenbrier is partnered with BetMGM Casino WV, FanDuel Casino WV, and Golden Nugget Casino WV.
BetRivers Casino WV and Caesars Casino WV are Mountaineer’s two online casino partners.
