Michigan sportsbooks accepted $457.6 million in wagers in May 2026, up 18.5% from the prior year’s monthly total. Yet adjusted gross receipts (AGR) fell 34.6% to $23.3 million.

The $23.3 million AGR total was the smallest since September 2025, according to the reporting that summarized Michigan Gaming Control Board data. One cited explanation for the drop was an “insignificant hold,” reflected in a 5.1% win rate.

The 5.1% win rate in May 2026 was down by more than 4.1% from last May, and it was even lower than April’s 5.3% win rate. That helped explain why revenue weakened even as wagering volume increased.

On the payments side, online sports betting operators paid $2.7 million in total online sports betting taxes in May, and $839,168.27 in wagering taxes and municipal service fees to Detroit. Separately, Michigan Gaming Control Board figures for May also reported $64.2 million in taxes and payments to the State of Michigan, including $14.6 million in wagering taxes and municipal services fees reported as paid to the City of Detroit.

Michigan’s iGaming business remained strong. iGaming produced $293.5 million in AGR in May 2026, which was up 24.2% year over year and 0.8% versus April.

MGCB reported that May iGaming gross receipts were $305.8 million, described as the third-highest monthly total in state history. In the same month, MGCB said combined iGaming and online sports betting gross receipts totaled $382.5 million, a 3.1% increase from April.

MGCB also reported that, as of May 2026, 15 commercial and tribal operators were authorized to offer iGaming and/or online sports betting in Michigan. Of those, 13 operators offer online sports betting, while all 15 offer iGaming.

Major online sports betting brands recorded the following May handle and AGR figures: FanDuel ($131 million handle, $16.8 million AGR), DraftKings ($121.5 million, $11.3 million), BetMGM ($45.3 million, $4.5 million), Fanatics ($38.8 million, $2.9 million), Caesars ($17.9 million, $1.3 million), and theScore Bet ($12.1 million, $915,537.28).

MGCB’s June 16, 2026 release presented these May 2026 iGaming and online sports betting results, including combined May AGR of $316.72 million (with $293.45 million from iGaming and $23.27 million from online sports betting).
