MGM Resorts International and BetMGM said they have pledged a combined $320,000 to responsible gaming initiatives for Responsible Gaming Education Month 2026. The package includes research funding through the International Center for Responsible Gaming, expanded support for state problem gambling councils, help for the 1-800-GAMBLER helpline and a donation to the Evive Foundation.

The companies also said GameSense messaging will continue in select NFL stadiums and MLB ballparks and expand to Las Vegas NHL and WNBA arenas. In September, the messages will also appear across digital platforms, retail sportsbooks and the MGM Grand Live Dealer studio, with BetMGM Sportsbook prompts urging players to “take a time-out” and QR codes linking to responsible gaming resources.

The release described GameSense as an industry-leading responsible gaming programme first developed and licensed to MGM Resorts in 2017 by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation. It said the programme is built around positive, transparent and proactive conversations with guests and customers about how to gamble responsibly.

MGM Resorts and BetMGM said they have now certified more than 3,000 employees through the GameSense Advisor programme, with training reaching staff in more than 45 departments across gaming and non-gaming resort operations. Stephen Martino, senior vice-president and chief compliance officer at MGM Resorts, said the milestone mattered because it reflected employees choosing to play an active role in promoting responsible gaming for guests.

BetMGM chief compliance officer Rhea Loney said player protection was a priority every day and that RGEM gave the company a chance to highlight those efforts. She said the company was using professional sports venues, employee education and investments in research and support services to help players access tools and resources for informed decisions, while American Gaming Association senior vice-president Rob Lockwood said the collaboration helped keep responsible gaming messages visible and supported research and programmes that could make a difference.

Bonus.com also noted a discrepancy in the announcement materials, saying the press-release URL referenced $300,000 even though the release text and supporting details described a $320,000 contribution.
