Leading online poker app BetMGM has announced the launch of the Summer PKO Fest in NJ, Michigan, and Pennsylvania from August 14 to 21, 2022.

Labeled by the brand as “daily events for all buy-in levels,” the real money Michigan online poker series features 25 tournaments in the progressive knockout format in each of the three states with an average buy-in of just over $67.

The most affordable tournaments cost $20 to enter, while the two respective flagship events come with a price tag of $215. BetMGM Poker Michigan’s schedule contains the biggest total guarantee worth $154k. In contrast, BetMGM NJ follows close behind with $151k, and Pennsylvania completes the trifecta with $136k in guaranteed prize pools (you can get a full rundown state in our BetMGM Poker Review, which covers every state).

The new online poker series consists entirely of progressive knockout (PKO) tournaments, a format that has become increasingly popular in the online poker industry throughout the last few years. For each player eliminated, the winner receives a portion of the bounty prize added straight to their bankroll while also increasing the tally on their own head.

Nine of the 25 events include a buy-in of $100 and more, and the two flagship competitions of the series cost $215 to enter. The initial seven days of the online festival in August boast three tournaments that kick off precisely one hour apart from each other. This number then increases to four different events on the final day on August 22.

Each of the three BetMGM poker platforms in New Jersey, Michigan, and Pennsylvania is powered by the partypoker US Network. Two of the three states involved are part of a multi-state poker compact, with Michigan becoming the latest addition to the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement (MSIGA) in May 2022. The site has the top Michigan online poker no deposit bonus among competitors.

However, no shared liquidity pool has yet been established between Michigan and the other three eligible states, and no specific timeframe for further progress in the matter has been revealed yet by state legislators. The cash game action in Michigan remains ring-fenced for the time being.

Since March 2022, the Michigan online poker market has surpassed NJ’s in terms of traffic and trails PA’s by a small margin only. The surge coincided with the launch of WSOP MI in the Mitten State. For example, BetMGM and its newest competitor are estimated to have generated similar revenue, while PokerStars reigns supreme with a figure of nearly two times as much.

In the current year, BetMGM made strides in the poker scene by signing well-known poker pros Matt Berkey and Andrew Neeme as brand ambassadors. They join four-time WPT Main Event champion Darren Elias as representatives for the online poker platform in the regulated US markets. The trio previously teamed up for a series of live and online poker events in their home states during the March Poker Mania in Spring, which came with $1.3 million in guaranteed prize pools.

American poker pro Joey Weissmantook down the inaugural BetMGM Poker Championship, which took place from June 23 to June 26 at the ARIA Resort & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip. The event surpassed its $1 million guarantee thanks to a large influx of late entries on Day 2 while competing with the ongoing World Series of Poker at the nearby Paris and Bally’s Casinos.
