Michigan’s online sports betting and iGaming market generated $337.6 million in combined gross receipts in August. Gaming Intelligence characterized the result as an 8% increase, though the available report details did not specify the comparison period or give a product-level breakdown.
As we reported on Sept. 21, August’s combined gross receipts were 2.5% below July’s level, with iGaming supplying $303 million and online sportsbooks $34.6 million. The month therefore extended the market’s heavy reliance on internet casino revenue while sportsbook receipts weakened from July.
The Michigan Gaming Control Board had put July’s combined gross receipts at $346.13 million, up 1.4% from June. iGaming accounted for $302.77 million and online sports betting $43.36 million. On an adjusted-gross-receipts basis, the July total was $321.42 million, including $290.65 million from iGaming and $30.77 million from sports betting.
July’s sports betting handle was $355.2 million, down 3% from June, despite adjusted sports betting receipts rising 52.7% month on month. Operators made $63.3 million in payments to the state, while Detroit’s three casinos paid $14.1 million in wagering taxes and municipal services fees and tribal operators paid $8.4 million to their governing bodies.
The regulated market comprised 15 authorized commercial and tribal operators in July. All 15 offered iGaming, while 13 operated online sportsbooks. A year earlier, Michigan reported $312.54 million in combined August gross receipts, following a 9.8% monthly increase from July 2025.
Michigan’s online market generated a record $3.8 billion in gross receipts during 2025, according to iGaming Business, up 29.5% from 2024. Online casino revenue made up $3.1 billion of that annual total, while online sports betting contributed $671.3 million.
