US online poker players get to wrap up the year with high-stakes tournament action as BetMGM Poker US will run three Six Figure High Roller events on October 22, November 19, and December 17. While the first of the three events is already in the books, there is still plenty of time for the players to get involved with the remaining two and fight for their share of big prize pools.
Each tournament will feature a guaranteed prize pool of $100,000 and a hefty buy-in prize of $1000. Of course, those with smaller bankrolls or just looking to save some money can try their luck with satellites running regularly on all BetMGM US sites.
The operator decided to bring back these high buy-in events as they proved quite popular with the players in the past. However, the Six Figure High Roller on October 22 failed to meet its guarantee across the board.
In Pennsylvania and Michigan, it attracted 95 entries, creating an overlay of nearly $10,000. After the rake, BetMGM came up short just $5000. The New Jersey event ended up with 92 entries.

BetMGM Poker seems determined to conclude 2023 in style, which may be a sign of even bigger things to come from the operator in 2023. While the room has been trailing main competitors in all three major regulated states (NJ, MI, and PA), moves like this can help the operator improve its presence and attract greater numbers of tournament players.
Upcoming Six Figure High Rollers are clearly geared towards those with deeper pockets, but there are on-demand satellites available in the client, with buy-ins starting as low as $2. Players starting at the lowest buy-in level have to go through three steps to get a ticket for the big event, but it is certainly doable.
The remaining two tournaments will take place on November 19 and December 22, and the $100,000 prize pool is guaranteed for each event at each of the operator’s three US sites — BetMGM Poker PA, BetMGM Poker NJ, and BetMGM Poker MI.
Good Value up for Grabs
The fact that the first Six Figure High Rollers all ended up with some overlays indicates that future tournaments could offer some nice added value for the players. Of course, BetMGM was not far off the mark in any of the states, and the upcoming events could well make and exceed their promise, especially in Michigan and Pennsylvania.
Either way, these events are worth getting involved with, in part because there will be a fair number of qualifiers in the field, meaning that the standard of play will not be as high as one would expect in a different $1000 online event.
With on-demand satellites running around the clock and almost a full month to go before the next event, it also means that everyone has more than enough time to try and get a seat at the table. It is an excellent opportunity to get involved with a high buy-in tournament with a reasonable field size and turn a small initial investment into serious cash.
