Bet365 launched online sports betting in Washington, D.C. on September 8, opening access to markets across more than 100 sports, live betting and in-game features. The district is now the company’s 18th live U.S. jurisdiction, and bet365 said Washington is the only market where customers can access the platform at 18 or older. New users were also being offered a Bet $10, Get $50 in bonus bets promotion.
As reported in August, bet365 had also gone live in West Virginia. In Washington, the company paired the launch with a new multi-year partnership with Monumental Sports & Entertainment, which owns the Washington Capitals, Washington Wizards and Washington Mystics.
The deal gives bet365 a year-round marketing presence across three of the city’s professional teams. It will run across Monumental Sports Network and team broadcasts, with virtual signage during Capitals games and pre-game and in-game commercials across Capitals, Wizards and Mystics telecasts.
Bet365 will also serve as presenting sponsor of Monumental Game Center. The feature lets users integrate real-time sports betting odds and gamification options into live game streams for the three teams.
The company also tied the launch to a set of betting promotions built around early settlement. Its Early Payout Offer settles qualifying NBA bets when a team takes a 20-point lead, WNBA bets when a team goes 18 points ahead and NHL bets when a team reaches a three-goal lead. It said it would also offer a profit boost for all Sunday NFL games an hour before kickoff of the first game.
Trip Stoddard, head of development at bet365, said the launch “expands our reach in the U.S.” and establishes the company’s presence in one of the country’s most dynamic sports markets. He called the Monumental partnership an “exciting opportunity” to introduce bet365 to Capitals, Wizards and Mystics fans and build lasting connections across Washington, D.C.
