On 30 July, Bede Gaming said it had secured GLI-19 and GLI-33 certification, with eCOGRA handling the testing and certification. The company said the result should help it move faster into regulated markets, especially in North America.
According to European Gaming, the two standards are Gaming Laboratories International’s main technical benchmarks. GLI-19 covers interactive gaming systems, including player account management, platform security, operational controls, game integrations and the technology stack used in regulated online casino operations. GLI-33 sets technical requirements for event wagering systems, which includes sportsbook and online betting platforms.
GLI’s own documents describe both standards as technical frameworks for independent analysis and certification. They are meant to remove subjective criteria from certification, and to ensure systems are fair, secure and auditable, while being updated over time as technology changes.
European Gaming said the certification followed a cross-functional audit over several months. It also said Bede is licensed by the UK Gambling Commission, the Malta Gaming Authority, the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis commission, and the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board in South Africa.
The company said the new approvals add to an existing compliance stack that includes ISO 27001 and WLA-SCS. Gerrard Thompson, Bede’s head of risk and compliance, said the certifications give “absolute clarity” on the maturity of the platform, processes and governance controls, and show regulators and prospective customers that the technology has been independently assessed against some of the industry’s toughest standards.
The report said many US states use the GLI framework as the baseline for iGaming approval, and newly regulated Canadian provinces have adopted similar standards. European Gaming also said Bede’s March approval from Alberta’s regulator should make later Canadian and US market entry less frictional. Aoife Nic Chuirc, eCOGRA’s head of sales, said Bede’s commitment to quality and compliance was clear from the outset.
